Meet the Governors
The local governors of Bishops Cannings Church of England Primary School work hard to support the headteacher and staff in achieving the school's aims. As a Church school, the majority of our local governing body is comprised of local foundation governors who are appointed by Salisbury Diocese. Their role is to ensure the school meets its responsibilities towards maintaining a purposeful Church of England ethos so that children develop morally and spiritually, as well as supporting and challenging the Headteacher to deliver high standards of education to the children and families we serve. Other local governors are elected to represent parents and staff. The parent body votes for two parents to sit on the local governing body. The Headteacher is also on the local governing body as part of her terms of employment. Another local staff governor is elected by the staff of the school.
Finally, we are supported by our clerk, Sarah Bowler clerk@bishopscannings.wilts.sch.uk
If you would like to find out more about the local governing body and even consider becoming a school governor, please feel free to speak to any of our local governors at anytime, or contact our Chair of Governors through the school office.
Our Chair of Governors, Caroline Martin can be contacted directly via email: cmartin@bishopscannings.wilts.sch.uk or via the school office on: 01380860633
