Our Year 2 children are taught in Phoenix Class
The Phoenix was a magnificent, reddish-black firebird that was larger than an eagle, with a saffron chest, its head crested with scarlet, and its tail purple. You can read about a Phoenix in the book, 'The Magicians Nephew'.
In Phoenix Class the children start to develop more independence. We build on the skills learnt in previous years as well as encouraging learning skills such as concentration and co-operation.
What the children say:
I enjoy playing number games when we have fun and learn.
I enjoy just everything!
I love quiet reading time!
Autumn Term 1
In literacy we shall be reading and learning off by heart The Three Billy Goats Gruff. We shall be taking a visit to the Troll’s bridge, finding out what he eats (don’t worry it isn’t small children!) We will be writing about aspects of the story from a different point of view. We shall write instructions about what he eats and how he cooks. Through the term and for the rest of the year we will be learning how to edit and improve our work.
