Meet the Governors
The governors of Bishops Cannings Church of England (Aided) Primary School work hard to support the headteacher and staff in achieving the school's aims. As a Church school, the majority of our governing body is comprised of foundation governors who are appointed by the local Parochial Church Council (PCC). Their role is to ensure the school meets its responsibilities towards maintaining a purposeful Church of England ethos so that children develop morally and spiritually, as well as supporting and challenging the Headteacher to deliver high standards of education to the children and families we serve. Other governors are elected to represent parents and staff. The parent body votes for two parents to sit on the governing body. The Headteacher is also on the governing body as part of his terms of employment. Another staff governor is elected by the staff of the school.
Wiltshire Local Authority is represented by nomination and our Associate Priest Revd. Beth Brown sits on the governing body by right as an ex-officio. Finally, we are supported by a clerk.
If you would like to find out more about the governing body and even consider becoming a school governor, please feel free to speak to any of our governors at anytime, or contact our Chair of Governors through the school office.
